Autumn Elegance: Gstaad Palace's Reinvented Le Grand Restaurant Returns in Style

Where timeless flair meets mountain grandeur — just in time for the new season.

This fall, the culinary heart of Gstaad Palace makes its grand re‑debut. Following an extensive multi‑million‑franc overhaul, the newly refurbished Le Grand Restaurant emerges in a refined blaze of rustic elegance, breathtaking Alpine views, and culinary theatre — redefining seasonal sophistication in the Swiss Alps.

The Story Behind the Transformation

Closed for refurbishment from March to June 2025, Le Grand Restaurant has undergone a sweeping makeover under the skilled direction of the Zug‑based architects Fischbach & Aberegg. The result is an interior that radiates enduring elegance — warm materials, classic design elements, and attentive historical touches that honour the hotel’s heritage while embracing contemporary sensibilities.

What’s on the Plate—And the Table

Culinary Director Franz W. Faeh and his team of 55 continue to celebrate hearty, authentic flavours. The menu spans 75 offerings, including signature table‑side preparations such as the legendary Châteaubriand, spaghetti Gildo, and flambéed crêpes Suzette — an immersive nod to the tradition of service à table, increasingly rare but quintessential here.

A Stage for More than Dining

More than just hotel fare, Le Grand Restaurant is thoughtfully positioned as a local meeting place — welcoming locals for stylish dinners or milestone celebrations amid its refreshed ambience and Alpine backdrop. “The new design… emphasises openness… inviting stylish hospitality as well as a lively connection with the region,” says GM Andrea Scherz.

Just in time for the season

This fall, step into Le Grand Restaurant’s renewed embrace — where each dish, each detail, and each sunset view blends heritage with boldness, inviting you to savour more than just a meal, but a memory in the making.
